Seen (& Heard) @ CalArts: Sounding Out #2

With so much creativity bubbling up at CalArts toward the end semester, many students need a testing ground to try out their new ideas.

Composers and musicians from The Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts recently presented 15 new pieces and works-in-progress at the latest installment of the student-curated Sounding Out concert series that was held in CalArts’ Main Gallery on Nov. 23.

The late-night concert, which started at 10 pm, featured a wide variety of new music, ranging from jazz to low-frequency droning to pop songs to choreographed dance music.

The video above shows excerpts from a new composition by Brendan Byrnes (Music MFA 12) titled, Novopangaea, and the video below features Colin Wambsgans‘ new piece, 4-Part Platform.
