On June 25, 36 School of Art MFA graduates present works in a culmination exhibition of their CalArts careers. The 2011 MFA Art and Photo Grad Show is student-run and artist-curated and features a diverse group of artists who are “advancing the boundaries of critical art practice.” Curated by Eve Fowler and Alexandro Segade, the show runs through July 10.
Held in the Farley Building, a 15,500 square foot warehouse located in Eagle Rock (just north of Downtown Los Angeles), the space will be transformed into an experimental exhibition venue. According to the show’s website, the environ reflects the structure and ethos of CalArts Art and Photography programs—laboratories for expanding critical art discourse.
The show includes the work of recent CalArts graduates including: Tony Banuelos, Donna R. Brown, Tyler Calkin, Amy Howden-Chapman, Fiona Connor, Valerie Green, Abel Baker Gutierrez, Mette Hersoug, Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle, Ian Hokin, Jake Jones, Keaton Macon, Simone Montemurno, Melodie Mousset, Claire Nereim, Joe Post, Andy Robert, Monica Rodriguez, Ariane Roesch, Josh Segura, Zachary Sharrin, Cammie Staros, Ramak Fazel, Rohini Kapil, Jinyoung Koh, Vivian Lin, Thomas Macker, Michala Paludan, Nicole Nayeon Kim, Arjuna Neuman, Kean O’Brien, Lee Ann Paynter, Clifford Landon Pun, Marisa Sciabarrasi, Molly Stinchfield and Lam Nathan Vương (many of whose projects are represented in the gallery above).
