Film Fridays: CalArts @ Capitol Records

The Film Fridays segment appears every Friday and features films and videos from students, faculty and alumni of the six schools at CalArts.

This week’s Film Fridays selection is a Capitol Records session featuring students from The Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts. As part of the annual collaboration between EMI Records, Capitol Records and CalArts, students are given the opportunity to record new original compositions at Capitol Studios to be released on a CalArts Jazz CD. A full archive of this collaboration can be found on the CalArts Jazz CD Archive website.

The excerpted piece, Maman Kobi, was composed by Jxel Rajchenberg, performed by Saba Alizadeh (on kamoncheh), Rajchenberg (on coco-banjo), and Tim Carr (cardboard box, nagara), and released on the 22nd Annual CalArts Jazz 2011 CD.
