I’ve collected his recordings and had the privileged to present his music side by side with a complete spectrum of players and their diverse musical interests. His jazz with Ornette and players such as Pat Metheny, Abbey Lincoln, Egberto Gismonti and Don Cherry have expanded the possibilities in my and subsequently many other’s worlds. Charlie’s recent recordings with the late Hank Jones are synonymous with the vibe I strive to create on my Sunday Brunch radio programs. His “Message to a Friend” (with Pat) and “Spiritual” are also from the place of peace and inner liberation I try to return to whenever I can get there. Thanks, Charlie.
