From March 3 to 7, The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance at CalArts held an on-campus Dance Career Development Week. Several LA-based choreographers and artistic directors ran mock auditions to help students expand their knowledge of the LA dance community, gain exposure and polish their audition skills.

This year’s guest artists included:

  • Lillian Barbeito, Co-Director of BODYTRAFFIC
  • Laura Gorenstein Miller (Dance BFA 92), Artistic Director of Helios Dance Theater
  • Amanda Wells, founding company member of LA Dance Project
  • Frit Fuller (Dance BFA 84, MFA 88) and Frat Fuller (Dance BFA 86), Artistic Directors of KIN Dance Company
  • Bruce Weber from Cirque du Soleil (IRIS, Criss Angel Believe)
  • Commercial choreographer Galen Hooks (X-Factor, So You Think You Can Dance, LXD: Legion of Extraordinary Dancers)
  • Actor and choreographer John Todd (Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out, The Phantom of the Opera)

Above, we posted a slideshow of photos from Dance Career Development Week. Below is a video of Todd running the class through a mock audition.
