Denis Kolokol wraps up his six-week, CEC ArtsLink residency at CalArts with a concert tonight (Nov. 13) at Roy O. Disney Music Hall on the Institute’s campus. The Ukrainian-born–but Krakow, Poland-based–sound artist and composer presents Proud to be Loud, a piece that he composed at CalArts. This work, for two voices and electronics, is a study of the territory between chaos and order. Kolokol shares the stage tonight with Carmina Escobar (MFA candidate, Music).
24700 had the chance to interview the composer earlier this week as he prepared to debut Proud to be Loud. (Please turn the sound up on the above video.)
Here’s a sampling of Kolokol’s experimental music-sound art from a performance earlier this year in Vienna, Austria.
