CalArts CAP Master Class with The Airborne Toxic Event

Last week, the CalArts’ CAP 20 for 20 master class series continued with the LA-based band, The Airborne Toxic Event. Band members Mikel Jollett (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Chen (guitar, keyboards), Noah Harmon (bass, backing vocals), Daren Taylor (drums) and Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboards, tambourine, backing vocals) taught and then jammed with participants from CAP’s music program at Plaza de la Raza in East Los Angeles.

For CalArts’ alumnus Harmon (Music BFA 05), the master class was a sort of homecoming. Before hitting the big time with The Airborne Toxic Event, Harmon lead CAP’s Music Program at Plaza de la Raza.

We posted a snippet from the class (above), with footage captured by Miranda Wright (Theater MFA 09).

CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) is a pioneering public-private arts education program for youth ages 10-18 that brings both Institute faculty and students into the community–46 sites throughout LA–to teach both the visual and performing arts.
