Students from CalArts’ School of Art are hosting a pair of open studio events this weekend that showcase the works of both graduate and undergraduate artists from the Institute’s Art and Photography and Media programs. (See a small preview of work in the images posted above.)

On Saturday (April 10) from 2-6 pm, the school’s fourth-year undergraduates are holding the first-ever BFA Open Studios. The graduating class will take over the entire Mezzanine level of CalArts, including the three main galleries. Approximately 2o student-artists will be on hand to present and discuss their work throughout the day.

On Sunday (April 11), 60 of the Institute’s MFA candidates open their studio doors to the public from 2-7 pm. The annual event traditionally provides an opportunity for the greater Los Angeles community to interact with the Institute’s emerging artists, ask questions and engage in discourse about art and current visual, performance and media practices. The MFA Open Studios event allows viewing of a number of works-in-progress in a casual work studio environment.

Both events are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served throughout each day.
