Earlier this summer, the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles awarded scholarships to three current and three alumni students at The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance at CalArts to travel across the globe to participate in BRIDGE, a choreographic exchange program that brought together the dance worlds of Los Angeles and Tel Aviv.

The two-week program, which took place in Tel Aviv, Israel, Aug 1-13, promotes a “mutual understanding by introducing Angeleno and Israeli artists and audiences to the cultural diversity of each other’s society.”

Led by artistic director, Barak Marshall, the six CalArtians, Bryn Cohn (BFA 09), Justin Cook (BFA 11), Cameron Evans (BFA 11), Lindsay Newton (BFA 11), Julia Romanskaya (BFA 10) and Anne-Marie Talmadge (BFA 10), with Dean Stephan Koplowitz, participated in dialogues, a variety of master classes and choreographic workshops culminating in two public showings at the Suzanne Dellal Centre in Tel Aviv.

In addition to dance-related activities, the six students were also given the opportunity to explore their cultural surroundings by participating in activities throughout the Tel Aviv area.
