Seen (and Heard) @ CalArts: Flutes Take Over the Main Gallery

24700 caught a part of an eclectic concert of flute chamber music last Tuesday–just the second day of classes at CalArts. Flautists from The Herb Alpert School of Music performed a concert in the Main Gallery with a varied program that included pieces by CPE Bach to contemporary composers Shulamit Ran and Toru Takemitsu.

In the video above, listen to: Marley Eder (BFA 14) play “Sonata in A minor” by CPE Bach; Elise Roy (MFA 12) tackle Takemitsu’s “Voice” and Christine Lanza (MFA 12) with Archie Carey (MFA 11) on bassoon perform “Sillhqey for Flute and Bassoon” by Robert Singley.

The Noon Concert Series occurs every semester and regularly features student and faculty performers and ensembles. Keep checking 24700 for other Noon Concert snippets.
