CalArts Winter Dance Concert, held tonight and tomorrow (Dec. 17-18) at REDCAT, is the semester’s culminating event for The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance at CalArts.

The evening’s most recognizable piece is a restaging of Trisha Brown’s 1983 masterpiece Set and Reset, retitled Set and Reset/Reset. With a score by Laurie Anderson, the 19-minute opus features performances by several Lund school dancers who worked with Kathleen Fisher, Trisha Brown Company Project Leader, for the past month. Fisher has taught technique classes at CalArts while setting Brown’s piece, which combines the choreographer’s trademarks of fluid movement and unpredictable geometric style.

During the concert, the school’s dancers also premiere Little Sisters, a new work by choreographer and CalArts faculty member Rosanna Gamson; an excerpt of Juncture (1999) by Daniel Charon; and an excerpt from Israeli American choreographer Barak Marshall’s high-speed physical-theater work Rooster.

The photos above were made last week during the staging of the Winter Dance Concert at the Modular Theater at CalArts.
