Director, producer and writer George Tillman Jr. is best known for his film Notorious—the life and death story of Christopher Wallace, who emerged from the streets of Brooklyn as the rapper Notorious B.I.G.
Tillman will be a guest artist of the Film Directing Program, speaking about his approach to filmmaking in CalArts’ Bijou Theater today from 1-4 pm. (While the workshop is open to all interested parties, Film/Video and Theater students have first priority seating.)
In addition to Notorious, Tillman has helmed other films such as Soul Food (2009), which examined the lives of three sisters in an African-American family, and last year’s action film Faster with Dwayne Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton.
We’ve posted a scene from Notorious, above.
