This Sunday (Sept. 18) from 11 am-7 pm, CalArtian works are lining Sunset Boulevard for Los Angeles Road Concerts, a one-day only event. Organized by alumnus Stephen van Dyck (Music/IM MFA 09), the series of site-specific projects from more than 100 Los Angeles artists will fill unused public outdoor spaces along the entire length of Sunset Boulevard’s 24 miles, from Downtown to the Pacific Ocean.
From LA Road Concerts:
Artists perform works, display installations, facilitate happenings, and make music in unexpected spaces, such as on the sidewalk, between dumpsters, along railroad tracks, as well as inside the audience’s cars as they traverse one of LA’s iconic boulevards.
For a complete list of participants, including numerous CalArtians, check out LA Road Concert’s Facebook page.
Below is preview of the route of faculty member Emery C. Martin’s (Film/Video BFA 06) mobile piece, Dead Man’s Shuttle, which takes riders along “Dead Man’s Curve.” Visit Martin’s site for additional information about the work.
