CalArts Alumni Helm Golden Globe-Nominated Animated Films

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards this morning (Dec. 13) in Beverly Hills. In the Best Animated Feature Film category, four of the five films were directed by CalArts alumni.

The nominated films are:

  • Brave: directed by Mark Andrews (Film/Video BFA 93), Brenda Chapman (Film/Video BFA 87), with co-director Steve Purcell
  • Frankenweenie: directed by Tim Burton (Film/Video 79)
  • Hotel Transylvania: directed by Genndy Tartakovsky (Film/Video 92)
  • Wreck-It Ralph: directed by Rich Moore (Film/Video BFA 87)

The only film in the category not directed by a CalArtian is Rise of the Guardians by Peter Ramsey (a UCLA alumnus).

The 70th annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony airs live on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at 5 pm PT and 8 pm ET on NBC.
