CalArtians Participate in 100-Artist Drawing Rally on Saturday

This Saturday afternoon (June 29), 100 artists set up shop for the Monster Drawing Rally at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena. Now in its fifth year, the “monster” gathering presents talented illustrators who draw in one-hour shifts to raise funds for the Outpost for Contemporary Art‘s exhibition programs at the Armory.

The live drawing event, which runs from noon until 6 pm, features more than a dozen CalArts’ alumni, including: Julie Adler (Art, Music MFA 99), Mark Allen (Art MFA 99), John Burtle (Art BFA 08), faculty member David Earle, Jay Erker (Film/Video MFA 01), Steven Hull (Art BFA 95, MFA 97), Adria Julia (Art MFA 03), Alice Konitz (Art MFA 99), Janne Larsen (Art MFA 07), Ana Llorente (Art MFA 98), John Martin (Art BFA 12), Guan Rong (Art MFA 08), Jemima Wyman (Art MFA 07), Adriana Yugovich (Art MFA 03) and Yuju Yeo (Art BFA 02).

For a $10 suggested donation at the door, the public can witness the live drawing while enjoying tacos, beer from Craftsman Brewing Company, music and drawing activities for children. The finished drawings will be available for purchase for $75 each.
