Group Exhibit Dark Beach Conceptualizes Surf Art

On July 27, the group exhibit Dark Beach opens at New Image Art Gallery in West Hollywood. Curated by the CalArts’ alumni-founded project InnocntsDark Beach brings together works that contribute to, and contextualize the definition of, surf art. School of Art alumni Sean Tully (MFA 10) and Devin Dailey (MFA 09) are two of the artists whose works are on view at the gallery.

Other artists in the show are Kevin Ancell, Russell Crotty, Will Adler, Nicole Dodson, Vince Felix, Brennan Grace, Shawn Stussy, Cesar Ancelle Hansen, Bella Serrell, Jordan Minardi, Thom Pringle, Kassia Meador, Tom Adler, David Carson, Susanne Melanie Berry, Runman, Jeff Ho, Grant & Chris Rohloff, Demi Boelsterli, Gothic Dolphins, Alexis Amann, Kyle Albers, Ratty Matty, Thibaut Paruite, Ben Brough, Evan Mendel, Greyson Fletcher, Dion Agius and Craig Stecyk.

An opening reception will be held on July 27 at the gallery with a performance by members of Stupid Man Suit, a CalArts alumni thrash jazz band. Ryan Parrish (Music MFA 12), Max Gaultieri (Music BFA 11), Jake Rosenzweig (Music MFA 11) and Matty Harris (Music MFA 10) will play as Jacob Halpern (Art MFA 15) presents video projections.
