Producer and CalArts alumna Miranda Wright (Theater MFA 09) and her theatrical company Los Angeles Performance Practice have partnered with the Bootleg Theater to present a new live performance series featuring local artists in contemporary theater, dance, music and cross-genre performance. The Live Arts Exchange (LAX) series begins on Thursday (Sept. 19) with a launch event/performance party curated by Nicole Disson. LAX will run for three weeks through Oct. 3.
The lineup is brimming with works by CalArts’ artists and ensembles, including the theater companies Poor Dog Group and Early Morning Opera, punk opera band Timur & the Dime Museum, and works by directors Chi-wang Yang (Theater-IM MFA 07), Zoe Aja Moore (Theater MFA 11) and Miwa Matreyek (Film/
LAX will showcase LA artists and independent companies by creating social events that encourage cross-genre hangouts. The culmination of the series overlaps with REDCAT’s bi-annual international theater festival, RADAR LA.
“We live in a city with so much creative wealth, and I’m looking forward to celebrating the work as a city,” commented Wright in a recent press release.
Formed in 2010, Wright’s Los Angeles Performance Practice is a producing organization and artists’ network dedicated to supporting LA’s unique contemporary performance community.
