CalArts Alumni Receive 2014 AIGA Medal

Sean Adams’ and Noreen Morioka’s designs include a poster for The Wolfsonian Museum’s exhibit, ‘Complaints! An Inalienable Right,’ banners for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, and identity for the Los Angeles Natural History Museum’s exhibit, ‘Becoming Los Angeles.’

AIGA, the professional association for design, announced this year’s recipients of the AIGA Medal on Feb. 20 and CalArts alumnus and former faculty Sean Adams (Art BFA 86) and alumna Noreen Morioka (Art BFA 88) are among the 24 designers honored with the prestigious award.

Adams and Morioka, co-founders of the Beverly Hills-based graphic design firm AdamsMorioka, join a growing list of CalArts faculty and alumni design luminaries who have won the AIGA Medal, including Lou Danziger (1998), Lorraine Wild (2006) and Ed Fella (2007).

The AIGA Medal is the highest award in the field of design and visual communication. It is conferred upon individuals whose achievements inspire and advance the profession. This year’s award winners will be honored at the AIGA Centennial Gala at the Grand Hyatt in New York City on Apr. 25.
