Tomorrow (Feb. 11), Skylight Books in Los Feliz hosts a reading by literary and science fiction writer and CalArts MFA Creative Writing Program faculty Brian Evenson. He reads from his latest short story collection, A Collapse of Horses, released this month by Coffee House Press.
Of the collection, Publishers Weekly writes:
Admirers of Evenson applaud the edge he maintains between the unexplained and the intimate. This latest collection continues to explore that line, and for how much is left obscured, an eerie emotional echo remains.
Evenson, who also publishes under the nom de plume B.K. Evenson, is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Creative Writer’s Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and several O. Henry Awards. He has been described as “one of the most provocative, inventive and talented writers we have working today” by The Believer.
Evenson is joined in conversation by fellow faculty Maggie Nelson, whose latest book The Argonauts is a National Book Critics Circle Award nominee for Criticism.
