The 2016 MFA graduates from the Art, Photo and Media, and Art and Technology programs in CalArts’ School of Art present their culminating exhibition, Exit Interview, at Human Resources, a nonprofit exhibition and performance space in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. The show opens on June 22 and runs through June 26, with the artists’ reception held on June 25 from 6 to 10 pm.
The participating artists will showcase their individual work that was created either toward the end of their CalArts training or shortly after graduation. The artists have chosen to organize the exhibit without a designated curator to ensure that no one voice rises above the others.
As stated in the press release: “The group exhibition highlights the dialogic dimension of two years of thinking and working in relation to one another. Acknowledging the paradoxical quality of institutionalized art education, the show is conceived as a field of interferences and counterpoints, the aftermath of a vital encounter and commitment to critical discourse.”
Screenings, performances, conversations and other events are being organized in conjunction with the exhibition. Download the Exit Interview Programming guide or check the Exit Interview website for updates and additional details.
