In line with the end of the academic school year, CalArts’ Community Arts Partnership (CAP) presents its Annual Youth Arts Exhibition at Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (LACDA). The exhibit is free and open to the public from May 17 through May 30. There will be an artists reception with live music, free food and raffle prizes held on May 20, from 2-5 pm.
Now in its 27th year, CAP serves thousands of youth in 23 community-based classes and 50 in-school classes that are tuition free. The exhibited artworks were created by youth in the following six 2016-2017 CAP programs: Advanced Visual Art at Hauser & Wirth, Santa Clarita Valley Photography at CalArts, Fiat Lux Photography at CalArts, Media Mashup at Self Help Graphics, LEAP at Newhall Elementary School, and Sony Pictures Media Arts Program.
An award-winning co-curricular program, CAP provides youth with challenging learning environments for artistic experimentation, access to higher education, and in-depth arts training in the visual, performing, literary and media arts. CAP also provides CalArts students the opportunity to teach, to refine their artistic abilities and to redefine the role of artists, arts education and the arts in society.
