The School of Art’s MFA2 candidates are holding a large mid-residency group show at CalArts this week, with the opening reception taking place on Thursday (Nov.16) from 8-10 pm.
Many of the art galleries on campus—the Lime, Mint, A402, D300 and D301, the Main Gallery and the L-Shape—feature the work of more than 30 artists from the graduating class from the Art, Photo and Media, and Art and Technology programs at CalArts.
“There is a wide-range of art, from sculpture to performance to installation and everything in between,” said Bridget Driessen, one of the show’s lead organizers. “Visitors will find a great body of work that is sensitive and empathetic.”
The MFA2 mid-residency exhibition delivers a preview of the artists’ individual thesis shows and the annual Open Studios, which are upcoming in the spring semester.
Those unable to attend the Thursday night reception will be able to view the works through Friday afternoon.
