Shirt Happens: Annual Graphic Design T-shirt Show Held on Thursday

Branding the walls in yellow, the CalArts Graphic Design Program heralded its annual T-Shirt Show, which takes place Thursday (Feb. 7) at 7 pm. The show will include designs by more than 40 Graphic Design students, faculty and alumni, with the ever-popular shirts, tote bags and other items available for purchase in the CalArts lobby.

Jessica Peng (Art BFA 20), one of the student organizers, says all proceeds go toward supplies and equipment for the Graphic Design Program. “The goal of this year’s T-Shirt Show was to make everything bigger than previous years,” she writes in an email. “We reached out to alum and faculty to try and connect the CalArts Graphic Design community, since this is Graphic Design tradition that we all share and love.”

More than 700 T-shirts have been printed for the event.

For those attending, designs sell out quickly. Plan to arrive early Thursday. All new tote bags and shirts are priced at $10. Previous years’ designs will also be made available for $5. Accepted forms of payment include cash, credit cards and Venmo.
