This December, actor, singer and producer David Hasselhoff (Theater 73) joins the cast of 9 to 5: The Musical at the Savoy Theatre in London.
The former Baywatch actor takes up the role of Franklin Hart Jr., a detestable and misogynistic boss who pushes three office secretaries—portrayed by Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, respectively, in the original 1980 film—to the boiling point. Hasselhoff began his run this week (in the role made infamous onscreen by Dabney Coleman), playing alongside Caroline Sheen as Violet Newstead, Chelsea Halfpenny as Judy Bernly, Natalie McQueen as Doralee Rhodes and Bonnie Langford as Roz Keith.
Brought to life by Dolly Parton’s critically acclaimed film score, the original 2009 Broadway production of 9 to 5: The Musical earned 15 Desk Drama Award nominations and four Tony Award nominations.
The musical arrived at London’s Savoy Theatre after a UK tour and London Fringe premiere. Hasselhoff continues in the role until Feb. 8, 2020.
