50+50: A Creative Century from Chouinard to CalArts Opening at REDCAT

In the spirit of artists supporting artists, nearly 400 people gathered at REDCAT on Tuesday (Feb. 11), for the celebratory preview of 50+50: A Creative Century From Chouinard to CalArts.

50+50 is an unprecedented alumni and artist-led scholarship endowment initiative. Sales of commissioned works by 50 prominent CalArts and Chouinard alumni will provide essential tuition support for future students. The project will roll-out over five years, with 10 limited edition artworks released per year.

The inaugural 50+50 series includes artwork by the late John Baldessari (Chouinard 59), as well as Anne Collier (Art BFA 93), Laddie John Dill (Chouinard BFA 68), Tony Oursler (Art BFA 69), Naotaka Hiro (Art MFA 00), Joe Goode (Chouinard 61), Gala Porras-Kim (Art MFA 09), Stephen Prina (Art MFA 80), Barbara T.
