Socks Whitmore Voices a Narwhal in New Audiobook Series

Socks Whitmore (Music BFA 20) lends a voice to Narwhal, the “happy-go-lucky” protagonist of the Narwhal and Jelly graphic novels, in its newly released audiobook series.

Whitmore (they/them) voices the titular character, a narwhal who embarks on aquatic adventures with Jelly, a “no-nonsense” jellyfish, in audio adaptations of the first five books of the series. The books, praised as “adorable” and “peppy” by The Children’s Book Review, were created by author and illustrator Ben Clanton, who also provides narration in the audiobooks.

Listen to audio excerpts from each book on Whitmore’s “Narwhal & Jelly Teasers” Soundcloud playlist below.

Whitmore is a singer, actor, writer, and composer who recently joined the Emerging Arts Leaders Los Angeles (EAL/LA) 2020 Protégé cohort, a 10-month mentorship program for emerging LA-based arts leaders. They have recently participated in several virtual theater productions, including New Musical Inc.’s BREAKOUT: A Zoomsical, and produced a fiction podcast called “Georgie Romero is Done For.”
