As this difficult year comes to a close, The Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts has a silver lining to share with the CalArts community and beyond. For the first time, the lineup of visiting artist talks from this semester’s CalArts Jazz Forum are available on YouTube.
Helmed by Jazz Program Director David Roitstein, the forum includes special guests workshops with incredible musicians, such as three-time Grammy award-winning drummer Terri Lyne Carrington, jazz pianist Jason Moran, alto and soprano saxophonist Steve Wilson, and jazz musician, rapper, and hip-hop producer Terrace Martin, to name just a few.

During their one- to two-hour talks, the guest artists cover a lot of ground, discussing their careers, sharing their inspirations and wisdom, and sometimes, perform live. At the end of each talk, there is a brief Q&A section with CalArts students.
