Carrie Hobson to Create Win or Lose for Pixar

Pixar story artists Carrie Hobson (Film/Video BFA 10) and Michael Yates team up on Pixar Animation’s first original longform series Win or Lose, which was presented alongside other Pixar feature announcements during Disney’s 2020 Investor Day webcast (watch below).

Written and directed by Hobson and Yates with David Lally as producer, Win or Lose follows a middle school coed softball team in the week preceding the final championship game. Each 20-minute episode will be told from a different character. The series was the brainchild of the duo, who, according to Pixar Post, “would often feel completely different emotions from attending the exact same meetings.”

“It’s not so much about softball as it is a comedy about love, rivalry, and the challenges we all face in our struggles to win at life,” said Pixar Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer and fellow CalArtian Pete Docter (Film/Video BFA 90).

Win or Lose is slated for release on Disney+ in fall 2023.
