CalArtians Take Home 2021 Creative Arts Emmys

In the Outstanding Special Visual Effects In a Season or a Movie category, Hickel was recognized as animation supervisor of the winning team for the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. The award marks the second consecutive win for Hickel’s work on The Mandalorian, having won the 2020 distinction in Outstanding Special Visual Effects for the episode “Chapter 2: The Child.”

Recipients of the juried categories in Animation, Costume Design, Interactive Programming, and Motion Design were also announced over the weekend. Krentz was recognized for his storyboarding on Tartakovsky’s Primal in the Outstanding Animation category, and visual effects animator Ulrich was among the team recognized for Outstanding Motion Design for the dramatic short-form Apple TV series Calls
