The 2nd Annual Wild Beast Concert Series returns to CalArts on Saturday (April 14), when the Institute’s brass players are featured in CalArts Brass Signals Day into Night at 6 pm.

CalArts Brass Signals Day into Night is a global tour of glittering contemporary music for brass ensemble, with stops in Russia, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, and Sweden. Some works use the spatial possibilities of the S. Mark Taper Courtyard with brass sounding around the space, heralding the approaching dusk.
The doors of The Wild Beast music pavilion open for free, outdoor concerts in an amphitheater setting.
The inaugural season kicked off in Fall 2010 and culminated last May to celebrate CalArts’ 40th anniversary. The event brought more than 500 people from across the Santa Clarita Valley together for performances by the CalArts World Percussion Ensemble and CalArts Latin Jazz Ensemble.
The next concert, World Rhythms with Pete Lockett, is scheduled for May 5 at 7 pm and features the CalArts World Percussion Ensemble and Hands On’Semble performing with world-renowned guest percussionist, Pete Lockett.
