Yesterday at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) in downtown Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, CalArts President Steven D. Lavine, REDCAT Executive Director Mark Murphy and other arts leaders from throughout the city officially launched the second annual Los Angeles Arts Month. Throughout January, there are special exhibits, concerts, lectures and events scheduled to help highlight the work of LA’s arts organizations, both large and small.
Two Domingo Thornton Young Artists from the LA Opera–Matthew Lobaugh, on piano, and Ronnita Nicole Miller, mezzo-soprano–performed Erda’s aria “Weiche Wotan” from Richard Wagner’s Das Rheingold for those attending the press conference.
