CalArtians from the School of Film/Video are being honored this week at the 22nd Rio De Janeiro International Short Film Festival (Curta Cinema 2012), which runs Nov. 1-8 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As part of the USA Focus exhibition, the 86-minute CalArts Highlights program features recent films from several CalArtian directors.
The retrospective focuses on films by recent alumni from the School of Film/Video’s Film Directing Program, with a few of the films selected for International competition. The Highlights program screens Nov. 4 at 6 pm at Instituto Moreira Salles and Nov. 6 at 3:30 pm at Odeon Petrobras. Below are a list of the CalArtian films:

A film by Araceli Lemos (Film/Video MFA 12), Miguel Alvarez Wears A Wig (16 min. Color. HDV to H264. 2012), screens apart from the CalArts Highlights program on Nov. 2 at 6 pm at Instituto Moreira Salles and Nov. 4 at 3:30 pm at Odeon Petrobras.
The festival is the largest competitive short film festival, and the only festival in Brazil to qualify winners for the Academy Award.
