Graphic Design Program Exhibitions Open Tonight

Beginning tonight, the CalArts School of Art Graphic Design program presents its year-end exhibitions for BFA, MFA and Motion Graphics students. The MFA exhibition, titled INBOX, runs through May 16 in the D300 Gallery, and the BFA show AMAZE! is up through May 17 in D301.

Both shows open at 7 pm tonight (May 9), with the Motion Graphics show, MoSho, screening at 10 pm.

The MFA exhibition features the designs of 27 graduate students. The email-themed exhibition “contains a selection of goods realized and posted by the students.” More from the MFA exhibition site:

Thesis projects from exit-level students are sent priority to the gallery floor and are ready for export to the general public and design community. Also included in Inbox is a corresponding stock of varied projects forwarded to the gallery by all members of the program. The bulk of this surrounding work is from students en route and on schedule to producing their own thesis in the coming years. Goods in stock at Inbox are also available for view through your email client.

AMAZE! presents the work of 20 graduating BFA designers as well as 47 continuing students. From the BFA exhibition site:

The work displayed in ‘Amaze!’ showcases the wide range of visual explorations, methodologies & processes, conceptual development, and the pursuit of communication through personal voice achieved by 67 amazing undergrad students.

We posted the MoSho trailer, above, created by Kaoru Matsushita (Art BFA 14), Devo Acuna (Art BFA 14), Sarah Young (Art BFA 14), Christine Shen (Art BFA 15) and Pedro Lavin (Art BFA 13).
