OfficeUS, the project representing the United States at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale, has named eight architects, two of whom are collaborative pairs, as official partners. Among them is CalArts’ Masters Program in Aesthetics and Politics alumnus Manuel Shvartzberg (Critical Studies MA 13).
The partners, according to a press release, “will work in conversation with visiting experts and various outpost offices around the world to reconsider the projects exhibited in the pavilion and to construct an agenda for the future production of architecture.”
The following are the other partners: Arielle Assouline-Lichten, Curtis Roth, Cooking Sections (Daniel Fernández Pascual and Alon Schwabe), Matteo Ghidoni and M-A-U-S-E-R (Mona Mahall and Asli Serbest).
Dutch architect and Harvard professor Rem Koolhaas serves as the Architecture Exhibition’s curator, and has titled it “Fundamentals,” asking participants to look to the architecture over the course of the past 100 years as a jumping off point for discussion and research.
The Venice Biennale is a major contemporary art exhibit that takes place in Venice, Italy. It encompasses a number of cultural festivals, including the International Art Exhibition and Venice Film Festival, which take place in odd-numbered years. The Architecture Exhibition, which takes place in even-numbered years, runs through Nov. 23.
