On June 26, multimedia artist and CalArts alumna Miwa Matreyek (Film/Video MFA 07) presents two of her live performance works with projected animation as part of Metro Art Presents, a free arts and cultural program held at the historic Los Angeles Union Station.

Matreyek performs Myth and Infrastructure and This World Made Itself, both highly acclaimed and well-toured works.

Myth and Infrastructure is the artist’s latest solo work, traversing seascapes, cityscapes and domestic spaces to conjure dreamlike scenes with nuanced layers of light and shadow.

This World Made Itself takes audience on a semi-scientific, dreamlike and surreal journey through the history of the universe, from the Big Bang, to the beginning of life on Earth to the urban landscapes humans have created.

Two showings of the 50-minute program are scheduled at Union Station’s Fred Harvey Room.

Matreyek combines her shadow, animation, music with live theater to create her own brand of performance. She has performed all over the United States and in various cities around the world.
