ArtChangeUS: Arts in a Changing America is a new, five-year initiative, based out of CalArts, which explores the demographic transformation of the United States, and its impact on arts and culture. Through the initiative, a network of relevant organizations, artists, philanthropists, scholars and idea producers will come together to reframe the national arts conversation through the lens of demographic change.
Led by director, dramaturge and former Ford Foundation program officer Roberta Uno, ArtChangeUS launches on Monday (Oct. 26) with a conference at the Ford Foundation in New York. The launch event will introduce the public to the initiative—and help strengthen the link between art and social justice.
Guest speakers and performers include Marc Bamuthi Joseph, James Kass, Favianna Rodriguez, Jeff Chang, Teddy Cruz, Martha Redbone Band, Jose Antonio Vargas, CalArts alumna Beatriz Cortez (Art MFA 15), CalArts theater faculty Marisa Chibas and many others. Please visit the conference program for complete list of speakers and programs.
The conference liveblog begins at 9 am on Monday and the livestream begins at 11 am (both times EST).
