The seventh annual New Original Works Festival recently took over the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) in downtown Los Angeles from July 22 through Aug. 7. The festival, which was produced by REDCAT Associate Director George Lugg, featured cutting-edge dance, theater, music and multimedia performance works by local artists.
This year’s NOW Festival artists included director Maureen Huskey, musicians’ collective Killsonic, puppeteer Christine Marie, choreographer Rae Shao-Lan Blum, composer Tashi Wada, hip-hop dancer Raphael Xavier, director Alexandro Segade, dance artist Hana van der Kolk and animator Miwa Matreyek.
