The international all-womxn collective It’s Us: Ophelia is currently running an online digital theatrical experience through the end of February. So, Count Mine. features nine original short films that explore the cycles and manifestations of shame through three surreal characters. Viewers choose one of three paths that leads them through a nonlinear order of all nine videos.
It’s Us: Ophelia includes artists and CalArts alums Nana Makharasvili (Theater BFA 16), Cemre Su Salur (Theater BFA 17), Reggie Yip (Theater BFA 17), as well as Elif Gülin Soğuksu and Gökçe Uygun.
So, Count Mine. is a unique product of the COVID-19 era, as the artists were quarantined miles away from one another in their hometowns of Istanbul, Hong Kong and Moscow. The members of the collective took turns rotating through the roles of writer, director, performer, and sound designer. An experiment in virtual collaboration, most of the nine videos were shot in a different location than where the director was located.
So, Count Mine. includes the following films: EN_G_A: Taking Control Over One’s Shame; YOU ARE NOT THE NIGHTMARE: A Journey to Resolve Shame; INHALE, RINSE & REPEAT: Cause of Shame; THE VANISHING ACT: Attempt to Surrender to One’s Shame; MILK MAID’S MONOTONY: The Daily Manifestation of Shame; MRS. FORGIVINGS: A Martyr of Shame; ALMOST: Impact of Shame; RUN! BURN! RUN!: The Futile Attempt to Suppress Shame; and ACE OF A: The Cause of Shame.
