‘Tis the season for trophies in Los Angeles–and earlier this month (Feb. 3), the 45th Annie Awards presented a number of CalArtians with awards for their achievements in animation.
The night’s biggest winner, Pixar’s Coco, co-directed by Lee Unkrich and CalArts alum Adrian Molina (Film/Video BFA 06), took home 11 awards, including Best Animated Feature. Among the nominees in the Best Animated Feature category were two films also helmed by CalArtians: Illumination’s Despicable Me 3, co-directed by Kyle Balda (Film/Video 93), and Boss Baby from DreamWorks Animation, directed by Tom McGrath (Film/Video BFA 90).
