‘Sick and Twisted’ Animation Festival Returns to CalArts

***April 27: This event has been cancelled. We will try to reschedule for next semester.***

The 2011 Sick and Twisted Festival trailer.

Craig ‘Spike’ Decker and Mike Gribble began their Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation in 1990 as a home for shorts that were too adult (or revolting) in nature for their mainstream show.

The Sick and Twisted Festival premiered a number of now-classic shorts, including Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butthead as well as the Spirit of Christmas, the original uncensored South Park short by Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Although Gribble passed away in 1994, Decker continues to produce touring theatrical film fests.

He brings the 2012 Sick and Twisted edition to CalArts on Friday, featuring films from School of Film/Video alumni TJ Fuller (BFA 11), Patrick Wright, Eric Favela (BFA 06), JG Quintel (BFA 05), creator of Regular Show on Cartoon Network.

Also screening are the newest stock of Sick and Twisted cartoons: Truckers Delight, Enrique Wrecks the World, Animation Vs. Animator, Captain Awesome, The Saga of Biorn, Daisy, The Pig Farmer (from director Nick Cross, who worked on the series Ren and Stimpy) and Bloody Date.

All attendees will receive a free set of DVDs and pizza (while supplies last). Decker will do a Q&A about films, the festivals and his history within the animation industry.
