Kristina Wong is a comedian, educator and theater artist who’s known primarily for her work as a solo performer. Her latest production, The Wong Street Journal, runs at REDCAT this weekend. It’s directed by CalArts alumna Emily Mendelsohn (Theater MFA 09).

In this podcast, we caught up with Wong before her class at CalArts (She’s teaching Cake or Death: Making Performance in Post Post Post Modern Times this semester in the School of Critical Studies). We chatted about The Wong Street Journal as well as her earlier shows, Wong Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and Going Green the Wong Way, Ugandan rappers, Vermont, China, cheese and how she’s still a little peeved about being stood up for prom. We also caught up with Mendelsohn and asked about the origins of the production, as well as working with humor in theater.
