This weekend (May 6-7), the Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance presents the Next Dance Company, an evening of innovative new dance by the 2016 graduating class at the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT).
Directed by faculty member Laurence Blake, the concert features choreography by guest artist Zoe Scofield, director of Seattle-based dance and visual art company zoe | juniper, as well as world premieres by MFA choreographers Kira Blazek and Leslie Scott and BFA choreographers Kyreeana Breelin, Amy Chihara, Blake Gaylord, Joan Holly Padeo and Heather Rebecca.
This year’s graduating performers are: Kyreeana Breelin, Cynthia Anderson, Bryanna Brock, Amy Chihara, Mallory Fabian, Megan Fowler-Hurst, Blake Gaylord, Kearian Giertz, Kayla Johnson, Darby Kelley, Mahina Moon, Isa Musni, Joan Holly Padeo, Hannah Patterson, Alan Perez, Heather Rebecca, Lex Shimko, Ashlee Williams and Lyndsi Zapata.
The Next Dance Company’s mission is to create a focused performance and choreographic showcase for the graduating students of The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance. The goal is to support the creation and development of new work choreographed by guest artists, faculty, MFA students and BFA students.
